This web1.0 site reflects my scientific career till 2001 and was originally created for my web site at the Fritz-Haber-Institute.

Surface Femtochemistry
Wondering why Surface Chemistry and Heterogeneous Catalysis is relevant?
The 2007 Nobel Prize in Chemistry was given to my supervisor Professor Gerhard Ertl "for his studies of chemical processes on solid surfaces".
Wondering what Femtochemistry is about?
The 1999 Nobel Prize in Chemistry was given to Professor Ahmed H. Zewail "for his studies of the transition states of chemical reactions using femtosecond spectroscopy".
1996-1999 I worked on my doctoral thesis on Surface Femtochemistry (Fritz-Haber-Institut der Max-Planck Gesellschaft, Freie Universität Berlin):
"Ultraschnelle Reaktionsdynamik an Oberflächen: Desorption und Oxidation von CO auf Ru(001) induziert durch Femtosekunden-Laserpulse"
in the workgroup of Prof. Martin Wolf under supervision of Noble Laureate Prof. Gerhard Ertl (Co-Supervisor Prof. Dr. Ludger Wöste).
