What you see is carbon monoxyde and atomic oxygen coadsorbed on a ruthenium single crystal surface.
You have two options:

Start the movie to heat the ruthenium crystal thermally with a heating rate of 200 K/s. See what happens in about realtime. Start the movie to irradiate the ruthenium crystal with a 130 fs laserpulse. See what happens in ultraslow motion (1 ps=1x10E-12 s, light travels only 0.3 mm in this span of time).
